Inspiring the Next Generation of STEAM Innovators
TUSKEGEE (July 3, 2025) — The Tuskegee History Center, in collaboration with Macon County Commissioner Janice “Jan” Fountain, successfully launched its first Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) activity session on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Designed to expose youth to the skills needed for careers in advanced manufacturing, the free program offered hands-on, engaging experiences for participants ages 8–12.
The event, themed “The Next Generation: Tuskegee Genius,” featured guest career speaker Dr. Gregory V. Murphy of Tuskegee University’s College of Engineering, who inspired students to think big about future opportunities. Facilitator Frank Hatten, a Tuskegee native, Tuskegee University graduate, and Boeing Education Relations Specialist, guided the youth through activities that made STEAM learning both fun and impactful.
In addition to interactive workshops, participants enjoyed free refreshments, and prizes and swag donated by Jean’s Angels and KIMANDCOMPANY Communications. The session brought together community partners, families, and educators in a celebration of creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.
The Tuskegee History Center extends a special thank you to Commissioner Janice “Jan” Fountain and Frank Hatten for their leadership and support in making this program possible. Stay tuned for details about upcoming monthly sessions.
